PROVIDING OF DRINKING WATER IS ONE OF THE BEST ONGOING ALMS FOR A PERSON AFTER HIS DEATH. It was narrated from Sa'd bin 'Ubadah that his mother died. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died; can I give charity on her behalf?" He said: "Yes." He said: "What kind of charity is best?" He said: "Providing drinking water." And that is the drinking-fountain of Sa'd in Al-Madinah. Sunan an-Nasa'i : Vol. 4, Book 30, Hadith 3696.

Water is the lifeblood of every community. Provide water to sustain life.

Water is, unarguably, one of the most essential human needs in every society. Not only does it serve as the most central and needed pillar of our existence, but also, it is also a major prerequisite for fulfilment of many social and religious demands, especially in Islam, as it is totally unavoidable in greater Islamic religious rites.

Being cognizant of this fact, Al-Aounou Charitable Foundation has singled out the provision wanter to the needy communities in its charitable works in both urban and rural Gambia.

The foundation's targeted intervention with regard to water has always been in two main forms: borehole drilling and well construction.
